I am a former resident of St. Augustine and only read the book "Bloody Sunset" after moving to Tennessee. For some reason, after I read the book I became totally engrossed by this crime. I have read the book at least twice cover to cover and have gone back numerous times to read parts of it. I googled Locke Mc Cormick and came up with a website for the exchange of information on cars namely corvettes. As I heard a rumor (?) that Locke was seen driving around St. Augustine in anew corvette after testifying that he couldn't be sure if the person her saw was Alan Stanford, I clicked on that link. Anyway, I found an email address for him and on a chance sent off an email to the address. I stated in the email that I thought he was very brave being a young man and going through what he did and that I wished him well and that I was sorry for what he had witnessed and what he endured. I did NOT ask him about the crime or anything.
To my surprise, he answered. He thanked me for not trying to pressure him, said it ws horrible and then he told me that he honestly believed that the man he saw was Alan Stanford even though he did not see the face. He told me that the Sheriff took him to a hypnotist to try and see if he could recall seeing the murderers face ( he couldn't), but he still believed the assailant was his neighbor.
I believe him. I have lived next door to my neighbor for years and would know him from the back without seeing his face and I'm sure the same was true for Locke. Some will argue he may have been confused, witnessing such a heinous crime but I believe his brain would be able to identify his neighbor. |

| Now that is extremely interesting. I had wondered about Mr. Locke acquiring a shiny new corvette soon after his testimony. I'm also surprised that he wrote you and admitted that he now actually thought that it was his neighboor that he saw that day. To this day, I can not imagine someone hacking another person to death in broad daylight. |
